Over
the years my artwork has predominantly been about people, and the experience
of being human, from both internal and external perspectives.
Whether working
on a large sculpture, or small ceramic piece, I am endlessly attracted
to portraying the human form.
My feeling is that artwork comes from deep within, tapping into the subconscious
realms; it is a way of processing life’s experiences that is deeply satisfying
to the soul, in a way that no other activity reaches. Artistically, I
never know where the work will lead me and this is immensely enjoyable.
Technical statement:
Most of my current
ceramic work is repeatedly Saggar fired to create an aged look, and evoke
feelings of old stone buildings, rocks and archaeological artefacts.
